Daeco’s Summer Festival Picks

With this beautiful weather that has finally graced Edmonton, it’s hard to deny summer is here. And when Summer begins, so does festival season in the city. If you plan on spending some time away from the office in the next three or four months you’ll definitely want to pencil in a few of these gems. If you can’t narrow it down to just a few we can help suggest a few. We asked the Daeco HR Consulting Black Sheep to tell us what their favourite festivals are.

  • A Taste of Edmonton: Foodies unite! Enjoy food snacks and beverages from Edmonton’s tops chefs and restaurants. Big bonus points for 30+ entertainers and a beer gardens. Consultant Krista says “We are definitely foodies so my favourite festival is ‘Taste of Edmonton’. We try to go every year at least once. I love taking the kids and having them try new things and it’s a great way to sample new restaurants.”

  • Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival: The Fringe Theatre boasts a whirlwind 11 days filled with performers, buskers, artisans and vendors that will mesmerize the outdoor crowd while over 1,600 live indoor theatre performances will be hosted by 50 venues or more! Managing Partner Genevieve loves the crowds! “I love being able to meet up with people, run into others I haven’t seen in awhile and eat some yummy mini donuts!”

  • Freewill Shakespeare Festival: Take in a Shakespeare performance in Edmonton’s beautiful river valley. Located in the Heritage Amphitheatre, the festival aims to present Shakespeare in an innovative and accessible way. Which means even your small children will get into it!

Happening in the beginning of August, the Edmonton Folk Festival takes places on the breathtaking Gallagher Park in Edmonton’s stunning river valley. Bring a blanket and your loved one and kick back and relax to smooth folk performers.
